There are few creative people in Bucharest who haven’t heard of NOD Makerspace. The first and largest of its kind in Romania, NOD is now working on expanding its impressive list of resources for the local creative community with MATER — the first material library in Romania and South-Eastern Europe.

With a surface of 1000 m2 housed in a refurbished industrial space, MATER promises to become a beacon of research and material exploration for architects, designers and any construction-oriented professionals. Such projects already exist around the world in various forms, archiving thousands of resources and materials and thus being at the center of innovation in design and architecture.

But MATER’s creators have even bigger plans for this new space, offering not only 3000 samples of materials to start off the collection but also co-working and workshop spaces open to any and all creatives. We love the fact that through a lot of hard work and sustained effort, NOD Makerspace has transformed the old industrial building in which it resides into an amazing attraction for makers, designers and all sorts of creative enterprises, and hearing about MATER only made us love it more. We’re excited for the launch of this new space, estimated to be taking place later this year.
