FESTIVAL
VISUAL PLAYGROUND is an illustration and graphic design festival based in Bucharest, Romania. Imagined by creatives for creatives, it stashes together 8 days of workshops, a two-day conference, two exhibitions and a mural painting, all while aiming to create a bridge between the local and international artistic communities. In other words, it’s going to be the bomb, so you’d better join us.

SPEAKERS
Join an epic two-day conference where nine world-class speakers will share honest advice and insights into their creative journeys. You’ll get to learn from some of the best creative minds in the world and, on top of that, we’ll all celebrate together during our after party. What’s not to love? But keep in mind, while our speakers are huge, our venue is intimate, so you’d better get a ticket quick.
WORKSHOPS
Think of the workshop series as an intensive-training art bootcamp. During its 8 days, 9 mind-bending artists will share their knowledge with 24 lucky participants and make them - we’re being completely honest here - work their asses off. Feeling up for it? Applications open, right here, right now.

MURAL PAINTING
We love murals and so should you. Last edition, walls master Hedof took our breath away with a colorful mural in the interior courtyard of Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism. We just couldn’t get enough of it, so this year we have the perfect antidote for winter’s doom and gloom: an unforgettable mural by the versatile Akacorleone.

AKACORLEONE is Pedro Campiche, a Lisbon-born graffiti writer turned graphic designer turned freelance illustrator. His eye-catching compositions masterfully combine colors, typography, characters and refined forms - and we can’t wait to have him rock our socks off with a new mural.)
EXHIBITIONS
OPENING: APRIL 2ND
OPEN UNTIL: APRIL 20TH
Opening exhibition w/ Karolis Strautniekas
Few things would do more justice to our official opening than an amazing exhibition by legendary illustrator and friend-of-the-festival Karolis Strautniekas. He held a workshop in 2016 (wow), he returned to the festival just to say hi in 2017 (aww...) so we thought who better than him to open the 2019 edition of VISUAL PLAYGROUND? More info coming soon, so stay tuned!
OPENING: APRIL 2ND
OPEN UNTIL: APRIL 20TH
KAROLIS STRAUTNIEKAS is a freelance illustrator best known for his eerie, nostalgic yet acutely contemporary illustrations. Based in Vilnius, Lithuania, he achieved international recognition working with clients such as Adobe, Facebook and The New Yorker. And we adore him, but that’s pretty obvious by now.
